About physiotherapy

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a field that looks specifically at a person’s health, mobility, movement and ability to function. Key methods in physiotherapy include guidance and counselling to promote health and the ability to function, therapeutic training, manual and physical therapy, and services related to assistive devices. Physiotherapy is carried out in a goal-oriented manner in cooperation with the customer, their surroundings and the party providing care.

Why physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy provides support in situations where mobility and the ability to function have been reduced due to pain, illness, injury, ageing, a functional disorder or environmental factors. The goal of physiotherapy is to improve a person’s ability to function and strengthen their capacity to participate in activities in their own everyday environment. The desire to improve mobility or the threat of losing mobility are typically why people seek physiotherapy. Physiotherapists can draw on their professional networks to help customers choose the right care providers for their rehabilitation needs and find the best assistance possible.
